According to IDC data: Xiaomi takes the lead, Samsung second in India’s smartphone market
IDC Q2 2018: Xiaomi was the leading smartphone vendor in the second quarter of 2018, ahead of Samsung, according to numbers shared by IDC
According to International Data Corporation, Xiaomi was the leading smartphone vendor in the second quarter of 2018. However, this report seems to be even as other research firms such as Counterpoint and Canalys have declared Samsung as the leader in India's smartphone market. IDC's data shows that four of Xiaomi's smartphone are in top in terms of shipment in the quarters.These are Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5, which also accounted for 26 per cent of overall smartphone shipments.
The Indian smartphone market surged by 20% in the second quarter of 2018. About 33.5 million units were shipped. It is due to the slew of online exclusive launches and strong shipments by offline heavy vendors.
Xiaomi show 10 million shipments and controls 29% of the market followed by Samsung with 8 million shipments in the quarter and a 23% market share. Xiaomi show 107.6% annual growth compared to Samsung's 21%.
According to IDC, Oppo and Vivo were number three and four followed by Transsion.
